Lou Ann Fisher

Founder & director

Lou Ann Fisher has been a music educator for over 25 years in Texas. Her experience includes Elementary Music Education and Secondary Choral Directing at the Middle School and High School levels and Private Voice Intruction studio work with Middle and High School singers as well as with College level voice students. Mrs. Fisher also established a Private Voice Instruction Studio in Birdville, Denton, and Southlake Independent School Districts. She has served as a Vocal Music Director in Musical Theater productions including Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera where her voice students sang the lead roles. She has served as a Texas Music Adjudicator for UIL contests and continues to judge contests around North Texas annually. Mrs. Fisher's Choirs have received consistent UIL Sweepstakes and her voice students have earned membership in the Texas All State Choir. She has had singers earn memberships into the Texas Music Educator's Association District, Region, and Area choirs across South Texas and North Texas during her time directing Middle School and High School Choir programs and teaching High School Voice. Mrs. Fisher's younger singers have sung in the Texas Choral Director's Association Elementary Choirs and several of the Fort Worth Opera productions over the years. Her singers have received University Scholarships and placement in such programs as the San Francisco Opera Conservatory and musical theater programs in multiple states and have played leading roles in Broadway musicals. She is the original founder of The North Texas Children's Chorale which was formed in early 2000. The Chorale has been honored to sing in our State Capital, Texas Missions, the Smokie Mountains of Tennessee, and in The United States Air Force Academy under her direction. Several of her students- who were also former NTCC members- are now music educators around the state and around the nation.

 
 
 
 
 

Viktor Andersson

Co-Director

Viktor Andersson has become a master musician over the past 50 years.  His undergraduate degree in music composition and theory from Texas Lutheran University was followed by graduate degrees from Oxford University- as an organ scholar- and Western Michigan University.  These degrees were complemented by his studies at the University of Chicago, Julliard School of Music, and Columbia University.  Mr. Andersson served as the assistant organist at St. John the Devine Cathedral in New York City for many years before he headed back to Texas to be with his family. He became the music director at Calvary Lutheran Church and he continued his composing career. He founded the children's music program at Calvary over 20 years ago. Viktor's sacred music ministry has included the direction of youth and adult choirs, handbell choirs, and the Calvary orchestras.  His ensembles have traveled to Norway, Finland, England, Mexico, Russia,  France, and Sweden. He has also directed local secular children's fine arts camps annually, and his theatre experience includes producing and directingGnadiges Fraulein, and Auto-da- Fé by Tennessee Williams, The Fantasticks, Play it Again Sam, For Heaven’s Sake, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Sound of Music-as well as 3 operas- Amahl and the Night Visitors by Menotti, Aria da Capo, and Der Schauspieldirektor by Mozart. Mr. Andersson has performed in Bass Hall several times in the Fort Worth Men's Chorus. His principle instruments are organ, piano, and vocals, but he also plays the harpsichord, clarinet, and cello.  He has numerous published compositions in choral and instrumental settings and has authored specialized programs regarding the effects of music in early childhood development..

 
 

Internship Opportunities 

Each year the North Texas Children's Chorale directors will offer four to six internships to full time university music students in undergrad or graduate programs or to new music school graduates who are working on certification.  The interns may receive compensation in some cases.  Every intern must complete a NTCC Intern Program Application. See link. All intern applications should be submitted by June 1st of each year and will be announced in August after the semi-annual Board meeting.
